10/13/00 Desperation IV- If Heaven is on the Way by Araxdelan Rated G Notes- On the second anniversary of the first time I wrote and posted a Mulder/Krycek story, I present you this, in which the alternate universe I created with that first story is resolved. == Know the last will be for you, as the first, as everything I do. Know that forever apart is an impossibility. <3 =========================== 47 years in the future Fox Mulder lay in a hospital bed, blind and deaf to the world around him. There was no one there to watch over him, to cry. His friends were all dead, and he never had a family. In the end, he was alone. He did not know this. His mind had faded some time before. Now, he only registered weak echoes of pain and fear. He had never been a religious man, and he was afraid of the cold darkness he knew must be awaiting him. But even as the thought passed through his head, he felt his mind sharpening, growing. Suddenly, he was aware as he had not been in years and years. His wonder only grew as the pain and weakness faded. He felt more pure than he ever had before, and he realized that it was do to the fact that he simply *was*, without the encumberment of his body. He was spirit. He was himself completely, without the uncertainty of Fox Mulder, without the uncertainty of the man he used to be. At peace as he never had been in his lifetime, he sensed that which surrounded him. He felt the greatest warmth and serenity there, and he knew that he was meeting his Creator. No need for names, no need for words. All communication was through a language not known to the breathing, through a flow of emotions from Creator. Mulder knew, then. He had lived his life trying to do good. He had done good. He regretted his transgressions. He had held affection for his fellow man. He had touched many souls. His sins were forgiven. What was once Mulder basked in the infinite light and forgiveness and warmth. There was so little of the living left in him that he did not question this, did not feel surprise. This was as it should be. It was comfortable, and right. Suddenly, Mulder felt another presence. There was another spirit there and he opened himself to it. Immediately he recognized who it was. He knew the feel of this soul as he knew his own. In this place there was no need for greetings. Mulder felt the welcome and love and joy radiating from Krycek, and Krycek from Mulder. Creator emoted the equivalent of a smile. He let them know that Krycek had much light within him, and that the penance for his misdeeds had now been paid. Forgiveness. Another smile, and great happiness. He told them that it was time for them to be as they should. The two came together, and melded. Where ever there was a hole in the one it was filled with the other. In human form, they were two halves of one whole. Now they are one. Mulder and Krycek ceased, but They began existence. If what They were feeling could be described in words, home and love and ecstasy would be among them. But what They had was beyond emotion and human expression. United, They looked upon Creator. Creator was the love and wisdom and serenity and truth and mercy that we know in life. As a part of Creator, as Creator's creations, They, too, were love, wisdom, serenity, truth, and mercy. But only together. Only when They were whole. They faded into That which is all. They became a part of the universe. They were, as ever, a part of Creator. Most importantly, Mulder and Krycek were gone. They lived on. _________ Eternity "They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it. Death is but crossing the world as friends do the seas; they live in one another still." -- William Penn http://araxdelan.tripod.com Now, as then, as ever- krycekluvsmulder@hotmail.com
